Members and guests enjoy the inviting blend of elegance, congeniality and service one would expect in a community of Grey Oaks’ stature.
Gulfshore Homes’ Verona luxury estate model residence reflects the splendor of the Grey Oaks Country Club community. This two-story, 4 bedroom, 6,231 square foot home includes a family room, library, 4 ½ baths and an outdoor living area set against the towering trees and preserve like setting that are a Grey Oaks hallmark.
While the Verona’s exterior includes Mediterranean features, interior designer Rebecca Goldberg, ASID of The Decorators Unlimited has created a living environment with a contemporary feel that is both warm and inviting. Soft gold and copper colors and softly textured fabrics with subtle patterns are used throughout the residence, both of which contrast nicely against the richness of darker wood tones. The flooring throughout is crema marfil with giallo real borders and inserts. The overall palette makes the transition from the heavy Old World to the Classic Contemporary.
The Verona’s dramatic, double-sided foyer features twin beveled glass mirror details that open up a space that features abundant wall moulding and ceiling details. The furniture in the foyer is clean-lined, soft edge transitional without the carvings found in heavier Old World Mediterranean schemes. The softer transitional look establishes the theme for the entire residence. Consoles in the foyer are a combination of wood and glass. Contemporary sconces flank the consoles for an eclectic feel.
Separated from the foyer by a hallway, the entry to the living room is defined by two sets of columns. A magnificent 20-foot window with an arched top provides a view of the pool and tree line beyond. The dominant element in the room is an extremely tall fireplace with classic moulding details flanked by a pair of lacquered cabinets with arched recesses above. A series of wall mouldings ties the three walls of the room to the fireplace. A large octagonal coffee table is positioned in the center of the room and a bench is situated in front of the fireplace. The room includes a transitional sofa and two pair of chairs positioned on a custom made area rug that carries the predominant colors of the design. Matching contemporary chests are positioned on either side of the sofa. The draperies are a luxurious silk leaf pattern in copper and dull gold tones.
The opening to the dining room features classic painted columns with an arched soffit that mimics the soffit at the facing bar area. A large, highly polished dining table features double corner legs and metal detail and seats 8. Tall, upholstered host and hostess chairs include a subdued gold silk fabric while the diamond shaped wood back side chairs are presented in copper and gold checkered silk. An imported Italian serpentine shaped buffet with a satin walnut finish is positioned under one of two oval mirrors that create a reflection of the small porch area and potted plants outside the dining room. Copper and gold vertically striped silk drapery side panels are set against amber colored walls.
A large bar area is located directly across from the dining room with a hall between. Transitional bar stools with nailhead trim are upholstered in a copper color silk stripe. The bar features a built-in Subzero wine cooler with additional wine rack storage and a Juperana India Gold granite top.
The hallway leading to the kitchen includes a recess that accommodates a demilune shaped wood console with a floating glass top. Flat slab maple cabinetry with a candlelight finish and Juperana India Gold granite countertops are featured in the kitchen. Stainless steel corners, toe kicks and cabinetry pulls contribute to the contemporary feel of the room. The generous island includes a food prep sink. An impressive desert gold diamond shaped mosaic sets off the cook top while a Botticino mosaic backsplash is used along the rest of the cabinetry. The cook top is flanked by a pair of cabinets over glass windows that allow natural light into the kitchen area. Contemporary bar stools in a beige, copper and brown circular fabric are set at the breakfast bar.
The breakfast nook’s large round wenge colored table is positioned against a semi-circular window that provides a soothing view of the lush vegetation and preserve like setting that surround the Verona and create a sense of total privacy. Six oval-back upholstered chairs include x-shaped dark wood and mini-circle patterned fabric backs and striped camel and gold fabric seats.
Goldberg continues to contrast soft wall colors and textured fabrics against darker wood tones in the family room. A contemporary wenge colored built-in with floating shelves is the centerpiece of the space. The dark brown wenge tone plays against a soft, gold toned chenille sofa with nail head trim and a pair of square upholstered chairs in plush tone-on-tone camel colored chenille. A second pair of chairs is presented in a colored textured linen fabric. The seating is grouped around a sleek cocktail table with inset glass and a deep wenge finish set against a two-tone leafy swirl linen custom area rug. A contemporary console that includes a gold tone “skin” finish and metal legs with an x-stretcher detail is positioned behind the sofa. Round wenge colored end tables with chrome accents and a small accessory table with rosewood veneer serve as perfect compliments. Stationary light camel textured and striped side panels frame sliding doors that stack to create a full opening to the outdoor living area.
Located off the hallway leading to the master suite, the study is presented in a light contemporary style that conveys a masculine feel. Built-in light cherry cabinetry includes a classic frieze detail at the top. Bookcases flank a pair of chairs in neutral gold tones with nail head trim. The floating desk and contemporary leather desk chair provide a comfortable work space. Rich subtle stripe side panels flank a French door leading to the outdoor living area. Contemporary dimensional carpet with a subtle multi color square pattern completes the highly inviting look.
A double door entry to the master suite opens to a vestibule that features a hallway with a glass/metal contemporary console and a morning bar. The suite has a classic contemporary feel with elegant, traditional warmth. A contemporary wenge colored built-in is recessed into a niche area. The gold silk upholstered bed includes a wenge toned straight thin wood frame and is topped by a contemporary gold-on-gold leaf pattern silk and wool bedcover and a variety of rich gold velvet and silk pillows. A wenge colored wood framed bench with a tufted top in gold fabric is positioned at the foot of the bed. Tall night chests are also presented in a wenge finish. Other furnishings include an impressive dark wenge colored console with glass shelves on each end and a pair of contemporary style lounge chairs with an ottoman in a soft gold fabric. A glamorous swag valance with side panels in a subtle gold stripe frame windows that provide a spectacular view of the exterior natural setting. A swirl vine-like dimensional neutral carpet completes the look.
Crema marfil flooring with diamond shape insets, Madura gold countertops and dark recessed panel cherry cabinetry in a bistro finish are featured in a master bath that includes his and her showers. The vanities are set in arched recesses that include large arched mirrors flanked by elegant sconces. Gold and beige striped wallpaper is used throughout.
The Verona’s second floor loft includes a built-in entertainment center in a deep cherry finish with a peacock green countertop. A deep gold chenille sectional sofa with a contemporary leaf pattern and striped accent pillows in copper and gold is set around a circular “spool” cocktail table with a book matched cherry veneer top. A custom color leaf pattern area rug with copper and gold defines the seating area. Tone on tone swirl stripe side panels frame sliding windows that lead to a spacious covered balcony overlooking the pool and outdoor living area.
The Verona offers three guest suites, two of which are located just off the loft. Guest suite one has a sophisticated yet subtle tropical feel and is done in soft green, cognac and subtle yellow tones. A deco inspired dark wood master chest and nightstands play against a channeled upholstered headboard. The dark wood frame chair with soft green ribbed fabric, small occasional table with a black granite top, mock leaf pattern neutral carpeting and textured woven window shades with a tropical print valance all play to Goldberg’s sophisticated Florida feel. The suite includes a large bath with dark cabinetry, golden leaf countertops and angelica white marble flooring with onyx mosaic inlays.
Guest suite two has a feminine feeling and is presented in avocado and light aqua tones. A curved wood framed upholstered headboard plays against a swirled multi-colored bed skirt, avocado coverlet and contemporary floral pattern shams. The light cherry contemporary armoire and nightstands include a diamond pattern inlay detail. Drapery side panels are done in alternating avocado and aqua colors. The neutral off-white carpet has a subtle pattern. Neutral limestone flooring with Costa Esmeralda diamond insets, cherry cabinetry in an autumn finish topped by a Costa Esmeralda countertop and avocado and aqua striped wallpaper are featured in the bath.
The Verona’s third guest suite is done in a striking chocolate and apple color scheme with a distinctly masculine feel. A square framed upholstered headboard includes contrasting welting and buttons and plays against a bold striped bed skirt with a contemporary fern pattern coverlet and mitered pattern shams. Deep chocolate nightstands flank the bed. The bath features multi-color slate flooring and shower details, dark cabinetry and an African Nepson Gold countertop.
The Verona’s beautifully appointed outdoor living area is designed to blend gracefully with the natural surroundings. Ashlar pattern stone flooring with a chiseled edge provides a durable yet elegant surface. A cast stone fireplace, a summer kitchen with a grill and a hood element that relates to the fireplace detail, a comfortable dining area and “java” woven wicker lounge chairs combine to create an ideal environment for relaxation and outdoor entertaining. The enormous pool includes a center planter area with stepping blocks and a separate raised spa. A cabana bath features shaker style mocha colored cabinetry with a golden beach granite counter and deep beige contemporary leaf pattern wallpaper with copper and brown leafs.
