Naples - Set amidst the classic streetscapes that define the serene Grey Oaks Country Club community, Traditions, the Golf Residences at Grey Oaks, is an enclave of luxurious coach homes built by the Newport Companies. The Muirfield residence is one of four models at Traditions. These three-bedroom, three and a half bath residences are maintenance free. Each includes a library/study, two car garage and a spacious lanai.

The Muirfield model is a second floor residence with 3,059 square feet of living space. A transitional design theme includes cream, aqua, chocolate brown and camel colors accented in silver and chrome. This fresh, clean lined and cool but comfortable palette contrasts Southwest Florida’s warm climate while presenting a soothing, relaxing and sophisticated ambiance. The flooring is an 18 x 18 marble polished to a luxurious feel.

The Muirfield’s two-story entry has tremendous volume that exudes the feeling of a New York penthouse. The staircase includes white oak wood flooring stained with a dark walnut finish accented by painted risers. A wrought iron railing has been silver leafed and antiqued in a clean circular design. Furnishings include a two legged wall mounted wooden console accented in silver leaf with a segmented antique mirror hanging above. A custom geometric square within square design chandelier is also silver leafed and aged to coordinate with the railing.

An upstairs foyer features a serpentine sideboard that can function as a server for the adjacent dining room. There is a segmented antique mirror over the sideboard as well as contemporary silver lamps. The entire setting is in an arched area with columns, a feature used to define spaces throughout the home.

The living room’s tall vaulted ceiling is accentuated by a perfectly scaled grand chandelier with elegantly sophisticated lines. The height of the sliders leading to the adjacent lanai is disguised through the use of a window treatment that raises the eye upward. A cornice board includes a roman coming from underneath, all done in silk. The cornice is raised almost to the ceiling and the roman drops to cover the top of the sliders. Drapery panels flank the sliders. A wool rug with soft camels, pale blues and aquas suits the transitional theme of the design. An exposed leg sofa and two accent chairs are covered in camel wool with nail head trim. The decorative fabrics of the luxury pillows play off of the camel tone without competing with the upholstery. A 48 inch square coffee table has silver leafed legs and a glass inset top. Custom made circular drum tables in a dark wood stain flank the sofa and feature left and right opening doors that open to interior shelving. The lamps are solid columns of alabaster with a clean paper shade. A large contemporary console with shelves adorned with botanical artwork inset into mirrored frames is placed on a wall outside the seating area. There is also a built-in wet bar in the living room with custom cabinetry, colonial dream granite counter, small sink, ice maker and wine cooler. The cabinetry is done in a glazed latté finish with a glass front on the center cabinet.

The dining room includes a circular table with a custom reeded pedestal and chairs done in chocolate brown velvet. Aqua urns placed on metal pedestals in the corners are filled with angel’s trumpet, a tropical flower found in South Florida. The artwork includes three modern abstract geometric panels of the same design, hand done and indicative of the color palette of the home. A raised coffer ceiling has a subtle faux finish and works with a custom designed chandelier in a silver leaf and antiqued birdcage style that functions as a sculpture piece for the room. The walls are fauxed to play off the color of the polished marble flooring.

The Muirfield’s spacious family room and adjoining kitchen serve as a gathering place for both family members and guests. The family room walls are fauxed in a linen texture. The furniture is covered in a pale off-white textured fabric with decorative pillows that have a small multi-color awning stripe in brown, aqua, off-white and white. A glass topped coffee table is custom built to a 22 inch height with knuckle detail that provides a more casual look. The frame has a distressed finish over silver leaf. A beautiful custom maple wall unit stained in dark brown accommodates a plasma television and has a bit of traditional molding. Brush steel finished drapery rods and rings are used to hang textured stripe sheers that have a gauze look.

The cabinetry in the kitchen matches the glazed antique latte finish of the wet bar in the living room. A shelf supported by carved corbels is placed above the stove ventilation hood. The counters and island are new colonial dream granite. A 5/8 inch square tumbled crème-mar-fil mosaic backsplash runs from the countertop to the cabinets. The appliance package is stainless steel Kitchen Aid, including a refrigerator with a raised panel front.

The study’s dark maple floor has an espresso washed stain. The designer chose to make the wall color the espresso of the floor with shelving painted the color of the room’s trim. As a result, the shelving jumps off the wall and makes a fairly intimate space livelier and larger feeling. Aqua crackle ceramics, silver accented accessories and a contemporary chrome ring chandelier play to the predominant color palette of the home. A clean lined parson’s style desk combines with two side niches in the shelving to provide workspace. The window treatments are a thick brown silk with a white tuft throughout and plantation shutters. A small settee completes the furnishings. The overall feeling is more cheerful and airy than typically found in a study.

The master bedroom is all about clean lined urban sophistication. The walls have a fauxed tonal stripe with alternating matte and satin finishes over the same color – an effect that brings texture to the look without being overpowering. A slipper bed with an art deco quality and curvaceous lines includes a headboard and footboard covered in textured aqua fabric that jumps off the neutral carpet and walls. The tray ceiling is framed by 12 inch crown molding with a pale aqua Venetian plaster inset. The two tone brown nightstands have a geometric pattern with silver pulls. They are topped by acrylic column lamps. A custom armoire is scaled to the room and accented in silver leaf and silver pulls. Circular mirrors flank the arched entrance to the hallway leading to the master bath.

The walls in the master bath are cream colored Venetian plaster. Custom cabinetry with a lightly glazed latte finish and a dark emperador counter with a clean flat edge provide a contemporary feel. Polished nickel sconces with paper shades edged in silver paint are mounted to framed oversized mirrors that enlarge the space. Cream colored marble installed in an offset pattern with a 2 x 2 inset of emperador dark chocolate marble is used as flooring and provides a timeless geometric pattern. The tub deck and backsplash are a continuation of the marble flooring. A frameless glass shower door provides an entry to a step-up shower tiled in a cream and brown offset pattern that coordinates with the floor.

A powder room is done in aqua Venetian plaster that coordinates with the color of the bedroom across the hall. There are contemporary silver sconces and a heavy metal mirror that is meant to look like leaves woven into a wreath with a burnished silver finish. Black and white photography provides a moody contemporary accent.

The walls of the first guest bedroom are a shade of aqua that is cool and warm at the same time. The color jumps off the wall due to the lighter contrast of the trim, carpeting and ceiling. The decorator fabric in the room is ribbed off-white fabric with shades of aqua and blue coral trimmed in a cream color, all of which speaks to the sub-tropical environment without diminishing the sophistication of the residence. The same feel is exhibited in the custom coral prints hanging in the room. An oatmeal color headboard is raw silk fabric done as a square geometric with a button detail. The Euros and bedspread are aqua wool with a wrinkle resistant finish. The window treatment repeats the oatmeal color of the headboard. Ivory finished nightstands with mirrored front drawers and burnished silver ring pulls are set very low and have a 1950’s-60’s feel. The coordinating secretary folds completely up and functions as a writing desk. The bath has off white stone floors and shower walls with a matte finish and aqua mosaic strip insets that bring the colors of the bedroom to the space in a subtle way. The wallpaper is a faux chagrine – the skin of a sting ray – that has a wonderful texture and is done in an aqua color. The arch top segmented mirror has decorative inset star medallions. The vanity is an unglazed latte with a bit of antiquing, chrome pulls and a marble counter.

The walls of the second guest bedroom are a warm camel tone with a touch of gold. The room is designed around a 4 poster canopy bed. A camel and pale aqua plaid fabric is used on the inset portion of the headboard and an ultra suede camel color fabric is used to trim out the rest of the bed. Neutral off-white sheeting with a decorative second duvet and bolster provide bedding with a very clean look. Mismatched nightstands include a contemporary chest balanced by a replica drink cart with antique nickel casters and an inset removable tray. Each hosts a heavily crackled aqua lamp with a hardwood base. A contemporary armoire is done in dark wood with horizontal grooved detail across the front of the doors. There are plantation shutters as well as plaid draperies hung from a wooden rod. The bathroom floor is polished noche marble with insets of crème-mar-fil. The basket weave wallpaper is taupe and pale aqua that picks up the colors of the plaid in the bedroom. The vanity counter is also noche over a dark stained cabinet with silver knobs topped by a tailored mirror.

The Muirfield is priced from $825,000. The furnished model is $1,400,000 including upgrades.
