Naples - The St. Andrews model coach home residence is one of four models available for viewing at Traditions, the Golf Residences at Grey Oaks. These three-bedroom, three and a half bath residences are maintenance free. Each includes a library/study, a two car garage and a spacious lanai. Set amidst the classic streetscapes that define the serene Grey Oaks Country Club community, Traditions is an enclave of luxurious coach homes built by the Newport Companies. The interiors of the Traditions models have been designed by Lusia Shafran and the team at Landmark Design.
The first floor St. Andrews residence provides 3,033 square feet of living space. Its traditional design offers simple lines and fabrics and a light color palette. The living area walls are a fauxed linen texture in a pale honey onyx palette that offers more texture than found in flat wall treatments. Bone color chiseled edge 18 x 18 Jerusalem stone flooring complements the wall finish.
The elegance of the residence is evident immediately upon entry. A segmented rectangular mirror executed with an eglomise technique that consists of sheets of silver leaf and antiquing is presented in a simple gold frame and makes a strong artistic statement. An Inca gold marble inset in the foyer floor has orange and gold tones that show up in fabrics used throughout the home.
A study with walls painted an attractive green is just off the foyer. The floor is aged and hand planed maple with a medium stain that casts a soft reddish orange glow. A custom built-in includes a partner’s desk with glass fronted doors with X detailing, inset medallions and fluted columns. A perfectly scaled antique brass lantern complements the décor. The chairs are covered in tufted moss green leather with antique brass nail head trim, wooden legs and brass casters. The draperies are paisley with orange, several shades of green and a bit of red. Hand colored tree prints in black and white complement the dominant tones of the space.
The living room and dining room are the home’s formal area. The width of the space accommodates a 120 inch long glass-topped dining table. Skirted dining chairs in pale green velvet with gold nail head trim balance the room’s wooden pieces. The head chairs are isolated by variations on the fabric. An antique brass chandelier over the dining table provides a traditional feel. The living room rug is a pattern rug in citrus colors that are not at all typical. The rug is surrounded by non-traditional wood pieces. A sofa framed in wood with chain carving, caned side chairs upholstered in off-white linen fabric and mid-tone brown circular end tables provide a delightful ambiance. A custom coffee table 22 inches tall is designed in wrought iron with an antique Tuscan gold finish and inset glass top. The green velvet found in the dining chairs is repeated in the living room accent pillows and in a custom ottoman. Golden lamps, white orchids and other traditional items combine to complement the feel of the space. Striped silk draperies in the same pale green, orange and cream tones of the carpet are used on the sliders that open to the lanai.
A custom crafted console with gold leaf edging functions as a dining room server and a focal point furniture piece. A wood panel with a geisha painting has been placed over the console. This painting is mixed with traditional artwork and botanical shell motif pieces to provide a pleasing assortment of art.
There is also a wet bar off the dining area with fruitwood brown cabinetry, an icemaker and wine chiller, bar sink and a colonial golden dream granite countertop.
The St. Andrews’ family room has a tropical feeling that features colors of orange and green. Matching lounge chairs have brown, orange and pale yellowy green woven retro fabric that conveys the tropical feel. The sofa is textured pale green and the coffee table is wood and glass with a caned lower shelf. There are also accent pillows with embroidered fabric that has a tropical floral motif. The end tables are Klismos style with ceramic basket woven lamps in pale green glazed with a light brown. Armless tropical side chairs with bamboo detail that has a regency twist are presented in pale green velvet with embroidered silk. The drapes are a warm honey colored sheer. A custom designed wall unit is done in a traditional X motif and stained a lighter tone to match the kitchen cabinetry.
The kitchen cabinetry has a light wood maple finish, raised panel doors and traditional rope molding. The countertops and island are covered in granite. There is an impressive 4 x 4 stone backsplash in Gialo with a rope Gialo listello. A tray ceiling is inset with a fauxed basket weave that leaves a woven rattan tropical feeling. The appliance package includes stainless steel Viking appliances.
A cozy breakfast nook has a window seat, circular glass table and two free standing chairs. The chairs are carved to look as if they’re made of bamboo. The seat cushions repeat the fabric used on the family room sofa. The table base is dark woven rattan in a Bombay drum style. There is also a metal and wood carved chandelier that has a tropical feel.
The walls of the master bedroom are pale green striee faux that provides a light and airy feel. A maple headboard is presented with cream silks and a floral embroidered pattern in gold, green and pale creams accented by moss green pillows in a cut velvet design. The bed has cut velvet chaimes that repeat the floral design and a checked silk pillow that repeats the pale greens, golds and creams also found in the draperies. A brass twist chandelier accented with a simple crystal ball on the bottom has curvy lines that mimic the curves of the vines in the embroidery. Bedside chests with pull out drawers and shelves, antique gold jar shaped lamps and a brown walnut corner armoire with pocketing doors all contribute to the warmth and elegance of the room. Two serpentine chairs hand-carved in London and a circular table provide a breakfast setting. A diamond pattern velvet bench at the foot of the bed has mid-tone brown wood accented with gold leafing on the edges. The green and orange botanical artwork is framed in large mattes and simple burled wood frames and focuses on close-up elements rather than literal representations.
The master bath has crème-mar-fil floors accented by 4 x 12 strips detailed with 4 x 4 mosaics of honey onyx. The cream color Venetian plaster walls match the color of the stone and serve as the room’s primary memory point. All of the cabinetry has an antiqued latte finish. The countertop is crème-mar-fil with an edge of gold. The tub is also crème-mar-fil with a listello to accent the relationship between the front and upper tub deck. A large inset plate mirror is presented in a casing to give the space height and elegance. Sconces are mounted directly on the mirror. The step in shower has an edgeless glass door and is accented in the same stones found throughout the room. The toilet room also has a bidet.
The powder room is a very unique three color striped Venetian plaster that has a spectacular luster. There is an antique gold finished oval mirror, a pedestal sink and clean lined antique brass sconces with pleated silk shades.
The first of the St. Andrews’ two guest bedrooms has a masculine feel. A cream and dark apple green color palette comes from the velvet used on the bedding. The velvet is found in the second duvet, the Euro pillows and in the drapes. All of the lines have been designed especially for the room with the appropriate green. The slatted wooden bed is by Oscar de Larenta. Bedside chests in two-tone wood with strong hints of tiger maple and a beautiful grain that plays with the light provide a contemporary geometric feel. Brass pharmacy lamps are both masculine and traditional and play off a contemporary drum lamp over the bed. The artwork reminds us where we are – botanicals, palm trees and tropical leaves. The fruitwood armoire has a traditional design with a bit of a diamond accent on the crown.
The bath has 12 x 12 sunny brushed marble flooring in an offset pattern inset with yellow jade onyx that shows up as the same apple green color of the walls. The tub and shower walls are done in the same finish. The cabinetry presents in dark stained wood with a green tea slab on top. The wall covering is a chagrine in a sea like pale green shade. A beveled mirror has a carved dark wood finish that is aged and has a bit of gold leaf in the center.
The second guest bedroom eliminates the greens found elsewhere in the home and instead plays up the oranges and creams of the color palette. Solid silk has been used for the drapery panels, valance, duvet and upholstery of the four poster antique gold metal bed. The other accent fabric is cream colored silk with embroidered trees with orange leaves that pick-up the orange tones of the walls. A velvet bolster has a leaf design that treats the tree motif in a different way. The armoire is a triple stack style with an antique parchment finish and gold highlighting, all of which contribute to a weathered, distressed, hand gesso feeling. The small nightstand also has the parchment gesso finish with a smooth dark wood top. The bathroom tile is all Inca gold inset with 5/8 inch square mosaic of polished crème-mar-fil in a criss-cross pattern that has four 12 x 12 tiles inset with 3 inch wide strips of the mosaic. The pattern provides a diamond look. The slab top of the vanity is also Inca gold with an orange cast. There is a pale cream grass cloth wall treatment that provides a simplified tropical look. The cornice board is made of the same silk as the bedroom draperies and the drapes are cream silk. Green and orange tropical botanicals provide artwork for the space.
